The Merc Heritage Merc was born in 1967 in the centre of fashionable and chic Carnaby Street, only metres away from where the flagship store is located today. It was started by a young Mr Javid Alavi. “During the 1960’s, Britain saw an explosion of many bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, who flocked to the Mecca of Fashion, Carnaby St. Colour television brought the UK Top of the Pops and Carnaby Street became the epicentre of a new ground breaking fashion scene. Javid remains the Chairman of the Merc Group of Companies and still has a very active role in the running of Merc.
